'Fougou is a duo featuring Brian Lavelle and Matthew Shaw. This is their third excursion into CD land and for my ears it's their best - not that either of the others were lacking in any way.
'Further From...' is a 6 song set of shifting droneworks that explore the most inner of outer space sonorities. The synthesized feel of many of the sounds develops a Tangerine Dream type ambience but one seen through the prism of the post-industrial diaspora and aided by a healthy dose of sci-fi articulation.
I love the euphoria that pours from these tracks. There's no soul-searching melancholy here, even at its most reserved it feels exploratory and filled with curiosity and is an absolute thrill to listen to.'

Another warm and comforting release from Bird People. I couldn't tell whether the ambient noises were recordings used by the performers or simply sounds picked up in the performance space, but either way the contrast is something special. jckmd

There's a haunting quality to these four tracks, especially (as the title might suggest) "Locked in Glaciers." I'm a bit inland these days, but I have to imagine this would be great to have on your headphones as you're walking alone along a desolate shore at twilight... Ron Hogan
